From Steam to Green
Glasgow will be taking centre stage in 2015, celebrating a "Green Year," a year in which the city will be host to a variety high profile events and activities which will engage the public in environmental awareness, green developments within the city and future aspirations. The Glasgow City of Science project "Glasgow's Green Year: From Steam to Green" is one such scheme that aims to celebrate the city's longstanding reputation as a centre of excellence in technological progress and innovation. At the heart of this venture lies James Watt's separate steam condenser invention, conceived in the city, of which we celebrate 250 years in 2015. The first brief delivered in the Collaborative Songwriting module requires us to develop this idea of "Steam to Green" in song format paying close attention to steam power, environmental awareness, social and behavioural change and innovation in green renewable energy. You can read about the process involved in my response to this brief by clicking the tab titled "Blog" or listen to the finished piece on Soundcloud by clicking the tab titled "The Mountain."
